SULLALUNA bookshop & bistrot

The bookshop will focus primarily on a carefully curated selection of illustrated books for children and adults. There will also be works of fiction and nonfiction, graphic novels and poetry, both in Italian and English.

Our hope is to foster an exchange between Italian and Anglo-Saxon cultures, creating opportunities for dialogue, debate, and mutual inspiration among artists, writers, publishers, students and booklovers.

The bistrot aims to offer a typically Italian experience, from breakfast to dinner, with our favorite recipes from Italy, using the highest quality natural ingredients.

SULLALUNA had its origins as a bookshop and bistrot our family established in Venice in 2017, in the vibrant Cannaregio neighborhood. We are now so proud to open SULLALUNA NYC in Greenwich Village, a neighborhood we've always loved for its rich literary and artistic history.

The name SULLALUNA (which, very loosely translated, means 'On the Moon') evokes a path, a journey, a far-off goal. It springs from a dream, a vision, a desire. In Italy, when someone is 'sulla luna,' it means they are immersed in their ideals, unconcerned with practical matters, and lost in daydreams.
