Mike Geffner

Mike Geffner is a retired 30-year professional journalist who published thousands of stories in countless major publications, including USA Today, Details Magazine, The Sporting News, Cigar Aficionado, The Writer, NY Post's Page Six Magazine and The Village Voice. He interviewed everyone from former President Richard Nixon to Forest Whitaker to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to Derek Jeter to Sandy Koufax to Dennis Hopper. His work won him several awards, including first place for profile writing by the Society of Professional Journalists, and he was acknowledged for excellence seven times by the annual anthology The Best American Sports Writing, published by Houghton Mifflin. He's been a private writing coach and workshop host for decades, and he is the founder of both The Inspired Word spoken word/poetry series (https://InspiredWordNYC.com, @InspiredWordNYC on all social media platforms) and the popular online writing discussion forum, blog and newsletter Mike's Writing Workshop, which ended in 2010. On August 26, 2020, he signed a deal to have one of his stories made into a feature film.
