Protect Ticket Buyers
Background
Speculative tickets, deceptive practices, and exorbitant price gouging have no place in the live event ecosystem. That’s why the National Independent Venue Association and Eventbrite lead the steering committee for Fix the Tix, a diverse coalition of more than 30 organizations committed to the passage of comprehensive federal legislation.
Take action
- Join us in telling Congress to enact comprehensive ticketing reform to protect consumers, empower creative economic development, and restore trust in the ticketing experience for fans and artists. Both the Senate’s Fans First Act (S. 3457) and the House’s TICKET Act (H.R. 3950) mandate ticket pricing transparency, ban deceptive advertising and websites, and ban fake tickets!

Ease Event Creator Tax Burdens
Background
Event creators and other online sellers face enough financial burdens while working to build followings, host successful events, and foster meaningful social connection. The last thing small businesses, entrepreneurs, and other event creators need is a new tax law that reduces the minimum IRS 1099-K reporting threshold for online sales of goods and services from $20,000 in annual payments and 200 transactions to just $600 and one transaction.
Take action
- The IRS recently announced a delay of this change, plus plans for a $5,000 reporting threshold for tax year 2024, which is temporary progress but not enough! Join us in telling your Members of Congress to permanently fix this burdensome requirement in order to save you, fellow creators, and other online sellers from unnecessary and confusing IRS reporting.

Foster Social Connection
Background
Eventbrite’s mission is to bring the world together through live experiences. Social connection is in Eventbrite’s DNA and we’re committed to elevating meaningful social connection among young adults as a public health priority – including the importance of shared in-person experiences.
We’re working to: raise awareness of social isolation; reduce related stigma; support event creators in hosting more socially connected events; and encourage policymakers to focus public attention and resources on these needs.

- We urge you to contact your member of Congress and voice your support for elevating social connection as a public health priority.

Support Safe Gatherings
Background
We’re committed to event safety. That is why we are empowering event creators with resources to make informed event safety decisions and advocate for common sense measures that support safe gathering.
There’s a role for our elected officials, too. New digital safety initiatives like Next Generation 9-1-1 will upgrade 911 technology by allowing people to share data like videos, images, and texts with 911 call centers. This will help facilitate rapid emergency response at live events if ever needed.
Join us in supporting digital safety initiatives like Next Generation 9-1-1 deployment to help enable more secure experiences when we connect at live events.
