Youth MTB Skills Clinic: Ride, Learn, Grow


Description:

Join us for a youth mountain bike skills clinic designed to help young riders build confidence, improve technique, and have fun on the trails! Led by PMBIA-certified coaches, this clinic provides structured skill development in a supportive and encouraging environment. Each session also features a guest speaker, group social time, and a cookout.


Who can join?

  • Riders ages 12–17 looking to improve their mountain biking skills.
  • All skill levels welcome! Whether you're new to the trails or working on advanced techniques, we’ll help you progress.
  • Parents are welcome to hang out and watch.


When & Where?

  • Saturday, September 13th at 10:00 AM
  • Lake Avalon Park, Bella Vista


What to Expect:

2 hours of coaching and riding, focusing on:

  • Cornering & balance technique
  • Safe braking & controlled speed management
  • Pedaling efficiency & cadence control
  • Climbing & descending with confidence
  • Navigating obstacles & trail features


1 hour of social time, including:

  • A talk from a guest speaker
  • A cookout with food and soft drinks provided
  • Time to hang out and build community

Certified Coaching & Rider Safety

  • All instruction is led by PMBIA-certified coaches.
  • We maintain a 1:10 coach-to-rider ratio, ensuring individualized instruction while keeping a fun, group-oriented atmosphere.
  • Helmets are required. Knee and elbow pads are recommended.

What to Bring

To ensure a safe and fun experience, please bring:

  • A trail-worthy mountain bike in good working condition (must have functional brakes)
  • A helmet (required)
  • Closed-toe shoes (no sandals or flip-flops)
  • Water bottle or hydration pack


Need to borrow a bike or helmet?

We have a limited supply of medium and large mountain bikes and helmets available to borrow for the duration of the event. If you need equipment, please contact us in advance to reserve what you need!

Meal Information

We’ll be serving a simple, classic cookout meal after the ride:

  • All-beef hot dogs
  • Chips
  • Soft drinks


If you or your child have food allergies or dietary restrictions, please feel free to bring your own sack lunch or preferred snacks to enjoy during the social hour. We want everyone to feel comfortable and included!

Cost: $25 per rider (includes coaching, food, and drinks).


Weather Policy:

If weather conditions are unsafe (heavy rain, storms, extreme temperatures, etc.), the clinic will be canceled for that month and will continue with the next scheduled Youth MTB Skills Clinic. All registered participants will receive a full refund for any canceled session due to inclement weather.
