DESCRIPTION:

For this adventure, we will be heading to bag our 5th peak for the SIX-PACK OF PEAKS Challenge: Sawmill Mountain and to complete 3-2-1 Challenge at the same time! What is that? It means 3 Peaks, 2 Counties in 1 Day!


!!!WARNING!!!

This trail is an 10.2-mile "out and back" with roughly 2060 feet of elevation gain. It is rated EXTREMELY HARD. We recommend only experienced peak hikers or hikers who have trained for high peaks attempt this trail. We will be taking this hike slow with frequent breaks but if you are not ready or prepared to attempt this hike, we will ask you to turn around.vThere are no reliable water sources on this trail, so please plan on carrying your entire days supply of water with you.


WAY OUT WILD DIFFICULTY RATINGS:

E (Easy) - Suitable for anyone who enjoys walking. Mostly level or with slight incline. Generally less than 4 miles.

M (Moderate) - Generally suitable for novice hikers who want a bit of a challenge. The terrain will involve a moderate incline and may have some steeper sections. Generally 4 to 7 miles.

H (HARD) - This is a strenuous hike that will challenge most hikers. The hike will be longer and steeper AND is deemed strenuous because of elevation gain. Generally 7 to 11 miles.

EH (EXTREMELY HARD) - Only well-conditioned and well- prepared hikers should attempt these hikes. The hike will be strenuous, long and steep, and may include some rock scrambling and challenging terrain. Generally 8 miles or more with EXTREME elevation gain. A REVIEW PROCESS with our team is REQUIRED with no exceptions to be included in this activity.

If you are planning on joining WAY OUT WILD for their Six-Pack of Peak Challenge, this hike will count towards the peaks needed to complete this challenge.

Our guides are certified Wildereness First Aid and Wilderness First Responders. This is a casual get together for shared outdoor enthusiasts. Safety is a top priority. A signed liability waiver is required to attend the hike.

  3. It may be chilly this time of the year. Please dress accordingly.
  4. Shoes with good traction
  5. Hiking/Trekking Poles

  7. Sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses
  8. Headlamp
  9. Positive Attitude!
