About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Join us to hear disabled public speaker, DEI consultant, and content creator Catarina Rivera, MSEd, MPH, CPACC for a foundational presentation on why disability inclusion is important. Catarina will discuss her personal journey with disability, ableism, intersectionality, key disability awareness concepts, the case for disability inclusion, and how you can make a difference. She is the founder of Blindish Latina, a platform smashing disability stigmas through storytelling and advocacy. Catarina has worn hearing aids from a young age and was diagnosed with progressive vision loss at 17 years old. She has a BA from Duke University, an MSEd from Bank Street College of Education, and an MPH from Hunter College.

This event features a pre-recorded webinar, but you'll have plenty of opportunities to engage. Throughout the recording, we’ll pause for interactive breakout room discussions, where you can connect with others, share your thoughts, and reflect on the content in a welcoming small group setting. We look forward to hearing your perspectives!
