Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my registration?

To cancel your registration, open your Eventbrite email and click “View” or “Manage Your Order.” Select the event, then scroll below “Download Tickets” to find “Cancel Order.” Click it to free up space for another hiker. Thank you for letting us know!

When is registration available for the next hike?

We strive to have registration available for the upcoming hike within one week after the current month’s hike. This allows time for our team to ‘recon’ each hike and prepare the registration information for the PDH community.

Why is registration necessary and do I need to register for each hike?

Registering helps our team plan a safe and enjoyable experience for all. It also ensures you receive important hike details, including location, what to expect, what to bring, carpool info, maps, and more! Register for each hike to stay in the loop!

What should I do if registration is full?

Please submit your registration through Eventbrite and you will be automatically added to the waitlist. If a spot opens, the first person on the list will get an email with 24 hours to respond. If they don't respond, the next person will be contacted until the spot is filled. Stay ready!

I registered, but I don’t see an email confirmation. What should I do?

Please check your junk/spam folders and search for emails from Eventbrite around the time you registered. You may also add purposedrivenhikers@gmail.com to your favorites to ensure future emails reach your inbox. If you still can’t find it, please reach out to our team. We’re happy to help!

Can children join the hikes?

Yes! We welcome families, but please keep in mind that each trail varies in difficulty. Parents and guardians are responsible for assessing whether a hike is appropriate for their child. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Can I bring my pet on the hike?

Some trails allow dogs, while others do not. Please check the hike details in the registration link to confirm pet policies. If pets are allowed, they must be kept on a leash at all times, and their owners must clean up after them.

Can I bring a guest with me who isn’t registered?

Yes. We prefer to have all hikers register online to allow adequate planning for our team, but we also have a few hard copy registration forms available onsite in case they are needed.

What’s the difference between the trail difficulty ratings?

We rely on the trail difficulty ratings in AllTrails, which are ‘easy’, ‘moderate’, or ‘hard. If our hike features a custom trail that blends multiple trails into one hike, we will provide the more difficult trail rating on the registration.

Why do you provide coordinates/ plus codes to the hiking location instead of the address?

Coordinates pinpoint the exact meeting spot, ensuring you arrive at the correct location. Many trailheads don’t start at the visitor center, which is what most online searches show. Copy & paste the provided coordinates into your GPS for accuracy!

What if I want to change pace groups during the hike?

If you would like to change pace groups, please inform your group leader of which group you would like to move to—and they will inform the leader of that group that you are en route. The two group leads will remain in touch until it is confirmed that you are with your desired group.

Do I need to bring my own snacks and water?

Yes. All hikers are expected to bring their own snacks and water. As hydration is essential, we recommend bringing at least 1-2 liters of water. Popular snack choices while hiking include trail mix, fruit, granola, jerky, crackers, and much more.

I have enjoyed my experiences with PDH. Are there any ways to get more involved?

✅ Trail Support: Help keep our hikers together & scout trails. ✅ Donate: Support gas, safety gear, & community efforts via Eventbrite. ✅ Community Service: Volunteer & give back! Every step matters—thank you for making an impact!

When does PDH usually hike?

Our hikes are scheduled for the second Saturday of each month unless otherwise stated.

What happens if there is inclement weather on the day of the hike?

In cases of inclement weather, our team will post a decision up to 24 hours before the start of the hike to either postpone the hike to the following Saturday, or continue our plans to host the hike as regularly scheduled.

Is there anyone that I can reach out to if I have questions?

Yes! If there is anything that we may assist you with, please feel free to reach out to our team and we’ll be glad to help! Corey: cnicks.pdhikers@gmail.com | Crystal: crystal.pdhikers@gmail.com | Danielle: danielle.pdhikers@gmail.com | Shia: shia.pdhikers@gmail.com
