Black Travel Day in Historic Durkeeville will include a 3-mile hike along Myrtle Ave. Along the way, historical and cultural landmarks will be included, as will a stop at Durkeeville & Co. for lunch.

About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Explore one of Jacksonville's most historic Black neighborhoods, Durkeeville. It is the epicenter of the city's baseball history and the launching pad for Black culture in Jacksonville's NW side.

Participants will eat, shop and explore while hiking through this urban landscape. Food will be provided and some Northside souvenirs.

  • Tour of Hank Aaron Field at J.P. Small Stadium
  • Lunch at Durkeeville & Co.
  • Remembering Walker's Commercial and Vocational College
  • New Stanton
  • Remembering Ducote Bank
  • Civil Rights History at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church

Proceeds from ticket sales support local Black business owners on Jacksonville's Northside and the Production Fund for Moncrief Springs, the documentary. We believe in the economic empowerment of Black business owners and Black creatives.
