This 1-hour interactive and virtual chat will provide a safe space where we will talk about psychiatric medications used to treat folx in the queer community.
All too often prescribers have gaps in awareness about antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, mood stabilizers, HRT, recreational and party drugs, the body as a whole including sexual experiences within the queer community, kink and kink-related devices, etc. when it comes to the impact on medication choice. The more education and awareness provided both within the prescribing community and to patients, the more we can all advocate for the best medical assistance for the specific individual.
This will be an open and honest conversation about common types of medications, their potential benefits and side effects, and some of the nuances that may not be routinely covered in standard medical settings. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in open discussion in a safe and supportive environment from psychiatric professionals.
Please note: we can not provide specific medication advice to someone in this session, nor is this considered a psychiatric consultation. This event is education based only. For official medical consultations, please consult the Queer Ear Mental Health website to book an appointment.
Hosted by Ed Stern, MSN PMHNP-BC from Queer Ear Mental Health, an all queer psychiatric practice in the DMV at https://www.queerearmentalhealth.com/. Email Ed with any questions at info@queerearmh.com.
