About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

The Nature Conservancy invites you to join Nick Proctor, TNC Community Outreach Manager with the Clinch Valley Program, for a trash clean up on Bluebell Island. This event a collaboration between TNC, the Town of St. Paul, UVA-Wise's 2025 Day of Service, Streamsweepers, and the Clinch River State Park!

Bluebell Island is an easily accessed island (walk-in access; boats/paddle craft are not needed) along the Clinch River near downtown St. Paul, VA. Bluebell Island is known for its spectacular carpets of Virginia Bluebells in the early spring as well as scenic views of the Clinch River. Volunteers will walk the Bluebell Island trail to collect trash that is frequently deposited after typical flood events, espcially over this past winter.

We need as many hands as possible to help and will meet at the Bluebell Island trailhead located at 16698 East Riverside Drive, St. Paul, VA. There is some parking at the trailhead but there is additional parking along Riverside Drive or at the UVA-Wise Oxbow Center.

Prepare: Wear long pants, sturdy work boots, gloves, water/snacks.

You'll receive a confirmation & reminder email about a week before the workday with additional details.

If you have questions between now and the event, please contact Nick Proctor, nick.proctor@tnc.org.
