Therapeutic Nature Experience for Human Services Workers

Join us for a rejuvenating therapeutic nature experience at Buckingham Park! This event is designed specifically for human services workers to recharge and connect with nature and each other. Take a break from your busy schedule and immerse yourself in the calming beauty of the outdoors. This session will be focused on Phenology as a Mindfulness Practice. This is a unique opportunity to prioritize self-care and mental well-being with other people who have dedicated their lives to helping.

What To Bring

  1. Please bring a small notebook and pen, this is essential for our Phenology practice!
  2. Appropriate shoes, water, and anything else you feel you might need to stay safe and comfortable in nature.
  3. It is recommended to download the Inaturalist app on your phone. This is not mandatory for participation, but could come in handy!

Frequently asked questions

Who Is Facilitating and Why?

Leonora Otto, founder of Elevate Mental Health Supports, will be facilitating this experience. She has worked in mental health for the last 10 years, and has extensive training and experience in facilitating Nature Therapy groups. Leonora's goal is to build community and support for fellow helpers.

Is this a hike?

No, it is not! This is a structured experience based on the theories of Nature Based Therapeutics.

Do I need to be at a particular fitness level to participate?

No, you do not! This experience is focused on engaging with nature rather than physical activity. The only physical activity required will be walking around the park area; this will be very low intensity.

What can I expect?

You can expect a structured experience that will include time for sharing about yourself, connecting with other group members, learning a bit about the theory of Nature-Based Therapuetics, and, of course, time to connect deeply with nature!

Where should I meet the group after I arrive?

Please meet Leonora at the edge of the parking lot, in front of where the bathroom building is! She will be holding a blue folder.
