About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Do you drive on SR 4 daily? Ocean Beach Highway, as we call it, is today the most convenient way for Wahkiakum residents to go to Longview or Long Beach, but did you know the road was going to bypass Cathlamet? Come learn about the exciting history of the construction of this valuable resource for our community.

This presentation explores the impact of Ocean Beach Highway on our county and how it connected us to the outside world. The discussion will look at how the construction of the highway changed the area in a few different ways and how transportation in and out of this county was historically different than most any other place in Washington state.
