Tenth Anniversary of the World Bank Group and Howard Law Partnership

Howard to the World:Bridging the Gap in Global Justice Through Experience and Excellence

We are thrilled to celebrate a decade of impactful collaboration and transformative learning with the Howard Law/World Bank Group Program. This unique externship program, a partnership between Howard University School of Law and key units within the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has provided students with an exceptional opportunity to engage directly in the field of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) at an international level.

Over the past ten years, this eight-credit, year-long course has evolved into a distinctive capstone experience that prepares Howard Law students for successful careers in ADR and international law. By engaging in mediation services, internal investigations, and neutral administrative dispute resolution, students have gained practical insights into how ADR mechanisms operate within global institutions. Beyond technical skills, the program fosters leadership and personal growth, in line with Howard Law’s mission to nurture leaders who are committed to justice and advocacy.

The WBG and IMF play pivotal roles in addressing some of the world’s most pressing economic challenges. The World Bank Group is dedicated to eradicating extreme poverty and fostering shared prosperity, while the International Monetary Fund ensures the stability of the global monetary system. Our program provides students a unique view into these organizations' internal justice systems, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to global solutions.

Join us as we reflect on a decade of achievements and look forward to many more years of developing the next generation of ADR leaders.
