About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Razzle-dazzle your family and friends with homemade sushi. Food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley has been making sushi for 25-plus years and will share the basic techniques for making sushi rolls, nigiri and hand rolls. You will learn to prepare and season sushi rice to a proper sticky consistency and discuss the tools required to be successful, which includes a razor-sharp knife! Class begins with miso soup and learning about the combination of ingredients that make a deeply flavorful broth. You will spend a bulk of class practicing techniques using a variety of fish. We will make spicy and plain tuna rolls, California rolls and salmon Alaska rolls. You will also learn how to shape rice for nigiri and wrap nori around fish.

  • You will be standing, cooking, and working for most of the class
  • Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and have long hair tied back.
  • If you need to cancel your class booking, you can do so up to 48 hours before the class to receive a refund or class credit.
