Quick witted LAURA HUGG is a nationally touring stand up comedian, sketch comedy performer, storyteller, and student-favorite instructor at The Laughing Academy!
Called "brilliantly funny" but someone who "never punches down" (Kelley Migacz, shOwPEN MIC), Laura blends self-deprication with canny observation, looking at the world through a lens that is sometimes dark but always optimistic.
A recipient of the Award for Outstanding Sketch Comedy at the Mary Scruggs 'Works by Women' festival at Second City, Laura hosts The Laughing Academy's monthly open mic at Grandpa's Place, and produces and hosts the Lincoln Lodge recovery-related comedy showcase “Keep Coming Back.”
She has featured for folks including Rocky LaPorte, Sam Miller, Jimmy Carranel, and Gabe Kia, and appeared at festivals including Bombs Away Comedy at The Comet in Cincinnati, Chicago Women’s Funny Festival, Lady Laughs Festival, Madison WI Comedy Week, Sixth City Comedy Festival in Cleveland OH, The Mary Scruggs Works by Women Festival, and Chicago Sketchfest.
