Spring Birding Hike at the Arboretum

with Lauren Lampley

Wednesday, May 21  |  8:30 - 11 am

BRN - Elective

Spring is an exciting time for migrating birds! Join Lauren on a hike around the NC Arboretum looking for as many migrant songbirds as we can find. We will focus on finding migrating Warblers but will also look at any birds we find. Bring your binoculars with you but we will have some students to borrow if needed. Beginner birders are welcome but this class will be more focused on seeing as many species as possible than developing skills for birding.

This program will take place outside and will follow easy trails and paved walkways. Dress for the weather and prepare to be outside for the entire program time.

Lauren Lampley began her career at Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation as a Park Naturalist which solidified Lauren’s interests in ecology and a passion for teaching others. She has led walks and hikes in a variety of subjects from Geology to Birding and especially enjoys learning and teaching about our local ecology. She currently works at the NC Arboretum in the Adult Education Department and manages the Blue Ridge Naturalist Certificate of Merit.
