Leadership Workshop Series for Parents and Caregivers of Youth with Mental Health Challenges


About the Series:

Join us for this empowering four-session workshop series designed to equip parents and caregivers of youth with mental health challenges with the skills, tools, and confidence to advocate effectively, build resilience, and foster a supportive community. Whether you’re new to advocacy or looking to enhance your existing skills, this series will provide actionable strategies and resources tailored to your needs.

Sessions Schedule

Sessions will be held on the 2nd Monday of each month, starting March 10, 2025. Be sure to mark your calendar! You’ll also receive session reminders and notifications to keep you informed.


Session 1: Advocacy 101 – The Basics (March 10, 2025): Learn the foundations of advocacy to make a meaningful impact. Completed! Webinar video will be made available to all session participants!

Next up: Session 2: Self-Advocacy and Empowerment Skills (April 14, 2025): Supporting Yourself and Others in Their Journey

Session 3: Communication Techniques (May 12, 2025): Master strategies for handling conversations.

Session 4: Navigating Systems and Building Partnerships (June 9, 2025): Learn to navigate systems and build effective support networks.

Parents and caregivers of youth with mental health challenges.

Both novice advocates and experienced caregivers seeking additional tools or resources.


Format:

  • Monthly Series: One session per month, 60 minutes.
  • Interactive Elements: Live polls, Q&A, and guided exercises.
  • Personal Stories: Hear from Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) members who share insights tied to each session's theme.


Series Goals:

  • Empowerment: Build confidence and skills to advocate for your child and yourself.
  • Resilience: Strengthen your ability to navigate challenges.
  • Effective Advocacy: Learn strategies to engage with systems and professionals.
  • Community Building: Connect with other caregivers and advocates.
