2023 Jean-Marie Reverdy Sancerre Silex $35.94

The Reverdy family has been making wine in Sancerre for four generations. They feel a familial attachment to the Loire Valley and a passion for the terroir. Jean-Marie brought prosperity to the family business, and it is currently run by his sons, Guillaume and Baptiste. Although they stay true to traditions, they also have implemented modern techniques to adhere to environmental sustainability standards. This bottling is part of their "terroir selection", in which they make a singular terroir wine from each of the three soil types of Sancerre. This cuvee is sourced from four plots of silex soil. Silex has a flinty minerality that is distinctive. It is fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees for 6-7 months.

2023 Daniel Chotard Sancerre $37.94

The Chotard family has been making wine for 200 years. Daniel Chotard sees wine in an artistic manner and often organizes "wine soirees" that celebrate wine as an art form. He typically picks the grapes later than others, producing a richer more opulent style. It is now run by Daniel's son, Simon. Simon uses organic practices and natural fermentation, a rarity in Sancerre where mechanical winemaking is the norm. They source their grapes from clay, limestone and Kimmeridgian marl, the three soil types Sancerre is famous for.

2019 Domaine Alphonse Mellot Sancerre Edmond $109.94

There are records of the Mellot family and wine dating back to 1513. In the beginning of the 19th century, Alphonse Mellot founded a tavern in Sancerre that would provide local wines to consumers. It wasn't until 1881 that Alphonse Mellot acquired a license to distribute his wines nationally. From then on, the estate has been passed down from father to son. The eldest son of the family carries the Alphonse name, so it is currently run by Alphonse and Alphonse, father and son, the 18th and 19th generation. They are famous for their single vineyard "La Moussiere", which sits south facing and planted on Kimmeridgian limestone. The grapes from "La Moussiere" go into a few different cuvees, including Edmound. They are sourced from the oldest vines between 40-87 years old. The grapes are fermented in 60% new oak, 20% onetime used oak, and 20% in two time used oak.

2023 Domaine Jean-Jacques Auchère Sancerre Rouge $26.94

Domaine Jean-Jacques Auchere has been passed down from grandfather to father to son for generations. Jean-Jacques is the head of the family and gives his stamp of approval for everything produced to ensure consistency and quality. The juice is gravity fed into stainless steel where it goes through fermentation. Sancerre Rouge is comprised of 100% Pinot Noir, with a distinct minerality indicative of the Sancerre terroir.

2020 Alphonse Mellot Petite Moussiere Sancerre Rouge $45.94

"La Moussiere" is the famed prized vineyard of Alphonse Mellot. Not only is Sauvignon Blanc produced there, but Pinot Noir as well. This is coming from the younger vines in the vineyard, between 5 and 45 years old. It is aged in 80-100% new oak for 10-18 months.

2022 Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Rouge $54.94

Domaine Vacheron is one of the all-time best producers in Sancerre. It is run by cousins Jean-Laurent and Jean-Dominique, the fourth generation, with their sons in the midst. The family has owned the property for nine generations. They were early pioneers of biodynamics, practicing since 2004. They receive attention for their single vineyard focus on Sauvignon Blanc. However, they place equal importance to their red wines as their whites. It is grown on chalk and silex soil, the same soil type prized for its whites, producing a red with minerality and finesse with a touch of new oak.
