Please join us for this special guided walk with Norfolk Hunt Club’s hounds and its professional Huntsman, Steve Farrin, organized by the Dover Open Space Committee (OSC). OSC member & NHC’s Master of Foxhounds (MFH), Sarah Monaco, will give a brief overview of the Norfolk Hunt’s over 125 year history as a drag hunt* in Dover and its NHC kennels, the oldest in North America!
This walk will be at a fast pace to keep up with the energetic hounds. NHC’s hounds are highly trained working dogs, not domestic pets. It may be over uneven, muddy and wet trails so wear waterproof boots and bring walking sticks, cameras, hats & gloves, etc.
Kids welcome! We will stroll in misty rain to shine.
Sorry, NO dogs this time. Please note the 9:30 am start time for this walk.
Meeting & parking information will be e-mailed to registrants Friday 3/14.
We will NOT be meeting at the Norfolk Hunt Club itself but at one of its fields.
* Drag hunts use an artificial scent, originally in a bag that was dragged on the ground for the hounds to follow. Now the scent is sprayed by a human 'fox'. No live fox has ever been involved. NHC has been a 'drag hunt' since its founding in 1895.
