About this event

Come join us for an intimate evening of music with local singer/songwriter Sam Bergquist! It's going to be a night filled with great tunes and good company. Hope to see you there!

Sam Bergquist is a songwriter, guitar player, harmonica blower and mandolin picker. Sam was a key figure in the Boston music scene in the 90's, carving out a unique space with his solo performances and releasing two solo albums that captured the spirit and energy of that time. He was also a presence performing in the Boston subways.

In the 2000s and 2010s, Sam was a key member of the country blues band Loose Change, gracing the stages of beloved local venues like Johnny D's and the House of Blues. Now, as a seasoned songwriter, Sam tackles contemporary struggles and nuanced, often thorny, political issues. His lyrics weave a rich tapestry of stories, offering both a critique of the status quo and a hopeful vision for a better future.

In 2023, he released the well-received EP “Wiser Then,” which garnered attention from music enthusiasts and critics alike. Cody Conard from The Big Takeover praised it as “A subtly brilliant EP that marks the re-emergence of a uniquely gifted voice in Americana.”

In collaboration with legendary Boston producer Dave Westner, who has worked with a diverse range of artists, including Peter Wolf, Dropkick Murphys, and Session Americana, Sam released his newest album, “Racing Down the Valley,” on February 18th. This album is a powerful exploration of our times, tackling topics such as climate change and social justice. Sam's music serves as a call to action, a poignant reflection of the world we inhabit, and a testament to the transformative power of art.

Beyond his own work, Sam is passionate about nurturing the next generation of artists. He teaches songwriting to public school kids in Boston, helping them discover the power of their own voices and creativity. With a renewed commitment to his craft and a heart full of stories, Sam is excited to connect with audiences through the songs he loves to create, offering both thoughtful insights and joyful celebrations of love and life's humorous moments.
