About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

In the lead up to the Theodore Payne Foundations Annual Garden Tour, many are moving toward incorporating native plants into their own home landscapes. But where do you begin? Join us online to learn the why, what, when, and hows of planting.

Knowing the native habitats and seasonality of southern California can help you choose the right plants for your place. This course discusses local plant communities—groups of species that naturally occur together—and their growing conditions, as well as resources to assess the conditions of your garden, including climate, soil, sunlight and space. A valuable class for beginners!

This class will be held online and recorded. Zoom login instructions will be included in the reminder emails. Registered students will have access to a recording of the class for 2 weeks after the live event.
