About this event
Waypoint Crew is committed to uniting a close-knit crew of outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers (ages 20's-40's) through exploring spectacular routes in London, the UK and beyond.
This time, we’re taking on the Peak District for an epic 30km adventure! Join Waypoint Crew for a challenging hike through this stunning landscape, led by Mike Moore, a qualified mountaineering guide. With Mike’s expertise, we’ll navigate the tough terrain safely while soaking in breathtaking views. This route includes optional scrambling at the impressive Alport Castle and 3,280ft of elevation - most of it tackled early as we ascend Shelf Moor. Perfect preparation for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in May, this hike will push your endurance and reward you with stunning scenery, a sense of accomplishment, and well-earned food and drinks at The Bulls Head in Glossop.
Due to the early start, we recommend staying at the Travelodge in Glossop or somewhere in Manchester on Friday night such as the YHA. There are plenty of easy connecting trains between Manchester and Glossop (30 minutes), so it’s up to you whether you stay in Glossop or Manchester on Saturday night - or head home after the hike.
Please note: This is a challenging hike and not dog-friendly.

Event Schedule
- 8:00 AM: Meet at Glossop Station to kick off the day with a light breakfast snack, courtesy of Waypoint Crew. Expect around 17 participants! If you’re staying in Glossop, the station is easy to access, and from Manchester, it’s just a short 30-minute train ride. As mentioned earlier, we strongly recommend staying in Glossop or Manchester on Friday night - travelling from London on the morning of the hike will be too tight.
- 8:30 AM: The hike begins, led by Mike Moore, our official qualified mountaineering guide. With Mike’s expertise, we’ll navigate the challenging route safely while enjoying the incredible views. Please arrive on time and ready to go! If you’re running late, contact Bethany Robb at 07713636371.
- 12:30 PM (approx.): Take a well-deserved lunch break in a scenic spot along the route—don’t forget to bring your own packed lunch!
- 5:00 PM: Finish the hike and celebrate your achievement with delicious pub grub and drinks at The Bulls Head pub. We’ve reserved a table for 5:30 PM, but we can head there earlier if the group finishes ahead of schedule.
After finishing at the pub, you can choose to stay overnight in Glossop or Manchester, or catch the train back to London. The train from Glossop to London Euston takes around 3 hours, with a convenient departure at 19:22. Be sure to book your tickets early to avoid price increases! We’ll also set up a group chat so you can coordinate travel and accommodation plans with your fellow hikers.
This hike is perfect for seasoned walkers looking for a challenge and a chance to connect with like-minded adventurers. We’d love for you to join us!
