About this event

This historic building was built in 1859. It has been transformed throughout the years to meet the needs of the community culminating in it being given to the Mascoutah Historical Society in 2003. Since then, the Museum has been the site of many community events. The Museum was first investigated in October 2024 and now something else seems to be happening in the historic building that’s not on the event calendar. Is it haunted? Let’s find out!

You are invited to join members of the Museum staff and the Gateway Regional Investigations of the Paranormal (GRIP) to conduct a paranormal investigation of the over 170 year old building. GRIP members have conducted paranormal investigations at numerous St. Louis and Metro East locations to include the Stifel Theater, Fox Theater and the Sheldon Concert Hall. You will have the opportunity to join in with the GRIP team as they conduct investigations and spirit communication sessions in the three darkened floors of the Museum to include the Moll Funeral Home display. Or, you can investigate those areas on your own with a GRIP team member.

To help document your experiences, GRIP will offer the use of paranormal investigation equipment (infrared cameras, K2 meters, dowsing rods, temperature monitors) and a short tutorial on how to use them. You can also use your own equipment, cell phones and cameras!

Ghost hunting investigates locations that are believed to be haunted by ghosts. In addition to gathering evidence associated with paranormal activity, ghost-hunting teams look for other possible explanations. Among the electronic devices used by ghost hunters are EMF meters, digital thermometers, and hand-held and stationary digital video cameras, as well as thermography and night vision cameras, night vision goggles, and digital audio recorders. In addition to traditional methods, historical research and interviews are conducted at many allegedly haunted sites.

GRIP (Gateway Regional Investigations of the Paranormal) also utilizes what we call an 'experiment' with team members. It is a unique way of communicating with paranormal that you really have to see to believe.
