Join The Land Trust on Saturday, March 22nd, 2025, from 10 am - 12:30 pm for a morning hike all about our native grasslands! The San Marcos Foothills Park and Preserve is located in the foothills between Santa Barbara and Goleta, just east of San Marcos Pass Road (Hwy 154). Encompassing 210 acres, the Preserve’s rolling grasslands, oak ravines, and seasonal watercourses provide important habitat for a variety of plant and wildlife species. We’ll be exploring the Preserve and learning about native versus nonnative grasslands and their dynamics. We’ll also look for early spring wildflowers and learn about some of the other native trees and shrubs that occur with the Preserve, as time allows.
We’ll be walking up to 2 -3 miles on rolling terrain. There is little shade, so please bring sun protection, if desired. No bathroom or water available onsite. Parking is free, though limited to street parking. No dogs please.
Land Trust Treks are a free, public series of guided hikes for the community to explore scenic Santa Barbara County and to meet your local Land Trust.
