May 3, 2025 from 9 AM to 12 PM

Join Quassaick Creek Watershed Alliance for a cleanup and invasive species removal project at Quassaick Creek from 9 AM to 12 PM for the 14th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep. This is a rain or shine event.

Volunteers will meet at the unpaved parking area at the intersection of Walsh Ave. and River Road, Newburgh, NY 12550. Park in the unpaved parking area adjacent to the intersection.

We recommend that all Sweep volunteers bring a hat, a full reusable water bottle, work gloves and hand sanitizer. We will have sunscreen, insect repellant, work gloves and high visibilty vests. This area has ticks, thorny plants and potentially sharp/rusty debris. Be prepared!

This site is not suitable for elementary-aged children.

*IMPORTANT! To ensure the safety of volunteers, Sweep Site Leaders, professional staff, and our communities, we ask that volunteers adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Volunteers are required to pre-register for Sweep.
  • Volunteers should not participate if they have ANY signs of illness.

Over the last 13 years, Sweep leaders have completed 1,349 service projects, bringing together thousands of volunteers from NYC to the Adirondacks to clean up 382 tons of debris, and plant or maintain 8,851 native plants. This incredible effort is made possible by the generosity of Riverkeeper’s members, sponsors, and donors. If you would like to support the continued growth of the Riverkeeper Sweep, please consider making a donation. Contributions of any amount are meaningful.
