Singer Kristi Jean and her musical and life partner, Steven Branstetter, have embarked on a transformative journey with their new album, weaving personal experiences into original songs that explore roots, transitions, loneliness, and the bittersweet nature of aging. Transitioning from cover bands to an all-original format, they adopted the name "One Acre West" to reflect their diverse backgrounds and evolving musical path.
Hailing from the diverse landscapes of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and the flat prairies of Texas, with a shared passion for storytelling, they’ve woven their experiences into a new collection of songs that reflect the complexities of life—exploring themes of roots, transitions, loneliness, and the bittersweet nature of growing older.
Their debut album, produced by legendary Austin sideman Bradley Kopp (known for his work with Joe Ely, Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and the Flatlanders), reflects a tapestry of Americana infused with traditional country and roots influences. The songs capture the essence of their shared experiences, blending memories of growing up in the West with their current lives in the ridge-and- valleys of the Appalachian range.
