Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist
The park is located directly on Raritan Bay and features beach, tidal flats, salt marsh, and wooded areas. A paved walking path runs along the waterfront offering unobstructed views of Raritan Bay. We’ll be looking for a variety of seabirds including Common and Red-throated Loon, Horned Grebe, Scoters and Scaup, Gannet and Bonaparte's Gull, all found on past trips. Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, and Harriers are regulars. At this time of year Gannets and Horned Grebes often mass in Raritan Bay and numbers can be impressive. Over 1,000 Gannet in March 2021! Much of the trip is on level ground but prepare for wind and weather.
Please bring your own binoculars, and spotting scope if desired.
Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate.
Ticket sales end on 4/4 at 4:00 PM.
