About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Join a new kind of Dungeon's & Dragons where queer men can have fun in a role-playing game exploring your many personalities, gifts, passions, strengths, & vocations, while getting to know an intergenerational group of men who support your exploring the many parts of yourself in the context of a game of self-discovery and adventure. There is a growing movement using in-person Dungeon's & Dragons gaming to helping gaming and social media addicts learn team work, empathy, and how to develop IRL friendships with your game mates, and how to move the skills & passions you discover in the game into your work and real life.

There are lots of demons and goblins running around in these crazy times, and lots of heroes and changelings, and in this group we'll learn practicl skills about how to work as a team, ask for help, and most importantly play with the parts of yourself you may keep hidden or just not explored -- but that could unlock some of your important gifts and passions. We believe Dungeon's & Dragons is a great tool of self-discovery and friendship building for queer men. We also believe it can be a pathway out of gaming & social media addiction -- because it allows you to get to know a group of your queer neighbors over time and in more depth than just chatting at a potluck or on a coffee date. And they will get to know you when you are scared, courageous, funny, and playful.

IMPORTANT SURVEY: Q-MoB has received a grant to help fund game equipment for men who may lack the funds to purchase these, but in order to get the funding we must report on the diversity & isolation statistics of the men who register (with no identifying information, just statistics), and we ask each man who wants to be registered for the 3/15 group to fill out this BRIEF SURVEY (so if you registered 2 men we need the other man to fill out the survey for themselves, so please forward them the link).

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Queer male friends 18 & up interested in exploring a role-playing game of self discovery, teamwork, and playfulness with other queer men
  • $10-$20 Tax Deductible Donation payable online or in cash or check made out to "Q-MoB Inc" to support Q-MoB's more than 25 social, recreation/wellness, & arts/culture activities every month and resources and services for rural queer men in the parts of 8 counties in 4 states that make up the Greater Berkshire Region.

WORK-STUDY: If you can't afford to donate, then email us at queermenoftheberkshires@gmail.com to learn about volunteering time as a way of contributing to Q-MoB's community-building work.

IMPORTANT: If you don't want to donate for every Q-MoB event you attend, you can instead become a monthly donor member for $25, $50, $75, $100 or more tax-deductible MONTHLY donation, and then you don't have to donate at every Q-MoB event you attend.

THANK YOUS: Q-MoB is deeply grateful to UCC Pittsfield (United Church of Christ) for providing us a very-low rent space ($25/session), & their incredible hospitality, and to the following foundation that has given us some of the start-up funding we needed to launch innovative intergenerational activities like Queer Men's Dungeon's & Dragons, Speed Dating/Networking and Speed Networking:

WHO THIS EVENT IS FOR: this event is for queer men, which can include gay, bisexual, pansexual, demisexual, asexual men, & transmen who are attracted to people on the male end of the gender spectrum, and non-binary individuals who sometimes present on the male end of the spectrum and who are attracted at least in part to people on the male end of the spectrum. We will not exclude anyone because of how they present their gender or sexual orientation, and this is an event for people who identify as queer men.

CARPOOLING/RIDE-SHARE: Carpooling is a great way to get to know other men, save money on gas, and help to reduce your carbon footprint and save the planet. If you need a ride or are open to carpooling with men who live near you, please indicate that when you are registering, & our ride coordinator will try to match you with people nearby who are interested in carpooling or offering rides.

REACHING US DAY OF EVENT: If on the day of the event you have trouble finding us, will be a little late, or can't make it, please call/text Dane at 413-479-9251
