Liability Waiver and Release

This is a release of legal rights. Please read and understand before signing.I hereby certify that I am consent to participation in recreational activities at Nelson Tennis Foundation events; which may include facilities or tennis courts or pickleball courts located at the Berry Creek Country Club, the Georgetown Country Club, the City of Georgetown tennis courts, East View High School, Georgetown High School, or any other tennis courts or facility in the City of Georgetown. I understand and acknowledge that I am fully aware of and assume the risks (including but not limited to the risk of injury, serious bodily injury or death, property loss or damage, or loss of any other kind) of my participation in recreational activities and use of the tennis equipment. I recognize my responsibility to ensure I participates only in those activities for which I have the required skills, qualifications, training and physical condition. I understand that the Nelson Tennis Foundation and/or the owners of any tennis court used during the program shall have no responsibility to pay for medical treatment and related costs. I further understand and agree that the Nelson Tennis Foundation supplies any equipment used for tennis “as is” and that the Foundation disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Knowing the risks described above, I agree, personally to assume all the risks and responsibilities surrounding my minor child’s use of the facilities and the equipment. To the fullest extent allowed by law, I hold harmless and agree to indemnify the Nelson Tennis Foundation, its officers, directors, board members, staff, volunteers, employees and agents from and against any present or future claim, cause of action, loss or liability for injury to person or property, which I may be liable to any other person, related to participation in recreational activities resulting from any cause whatsoever, and regardless of fault. I am at least eighteen years of age and have carefully read and freely signed this Liability Waiver and Release Form. I understand and agree that no oral or written representation can or will alter the contents of this document. I agree that this agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Texas.

Frequently asked questions

1. When will I hear what country I am on?

2 weeks before the event, teams will be announced. Stay tuned so you can make sure to get your Amazon order in time! You will want to all come dressed in your country's themed atire! Check your email around April 5th!!

2. Should I dress up on Friday or Saturday?

You should definitely dress in your country's fun theme on Friday night! You will want to get with your team mates and bring fun food, drinks, and decor to show your team spirit Friday night! On Saturday, stay with the theme, but remember, we will be playing tennis, so dress accordingly.

3. How many matches will we get to play

Each team will play 3 matches vs. other countries. Pickleball will be at GTC and Tennis will be at Berry Creek. We will begin playing around 9am Saturday. Each match will be timed, 1 hour. We hope to have multiple countries playing at a time.

4. About how long will the tournament last Saturday

We will start around 9am Saturday, the 12th and plan to be done no later than 3pm. The awards and silent auction will close around 2-3pm at Berry Creek.

5. What is a Calcutta?

A Calcutta Auction is an open auction held in conjunction with tournaments, where bidding for contestants or teams is done. The payoff depends on the size of the pot. A portion of the pool goes to the "owner" of the winning bidder, and a portion goes to tournament host.

6. Do I need to sign up with a partner?

It is encouraged to sign up with a partner, but it is not necessary. Please email us at nelsontennisfoundation@gmail.com if you want us to help find you a partner for the tournament.

7. Is the tournament doubles, singles, mixed, based on levels?

The tournament is doubles format. It can be women, men, or mixed. We will do our best to ensure teams play lines at similar levels.

8. How do I win?

The team (Country) that wins the most games overall - in the 3 matches played - during the tournament will win! Yes - Tennis and Pickeball players will be on one team!

9. What is the last day to register?

Registration sales will end on April 3rd at 12pm. This will allow us time to build the teams, and inform everyone by the week's end - sometime during the week around April 5th.

We host fundraising event to benefit our scholarship program, which awards graduating seniors from Georgetown ISD scholarships to pursue their college dreams, and helps to support our Ten Week Tennis program each summer to help grow the love of racket sports in the youth of our community! Join us in our efforts to promote tennis, pickleball, and philanthropy.
