Join us on a brisk walking tour to discover biodiverse gardens and parks! We’ll start at Levi’s Plaza, walk the Filbert Steps to Coit Tower, check out North Beach parks, and stop by the newly renovated Transamerica Redwood Park. We’ll end at Sue Bierman Park and Embarcadero Plaza to discuss plans to re-envision the 5-acre park across from the Ferry Building
Walk Leaders: Tom Scharffenberger and Amber Hasselbring
Tom is a landscape architect, naturalist, and conservation planner. He enjoys learning about our great city's remarkable historical, cultural, natural, and urban facets.
Amber is the Executive Director of Nature in the City and has helped launch innovative, creative projects and partnerships, including Green Hairstreak Corridor, Green Connections Plan, Crosstown Trails, Tigers on Market Street, BART/MUNI Canopy Living Roofs, Nature in the City Gardening, and Reimagining San Francisco.
Details:
This walk will be approx 2 miles, with an elevation gain of 300 ft. The terrain will mostly be along sidewalks, with some notable stairways to climb.
Preparation:
Please bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and layers for San Francisco’s ever-changing weather conditions, as well as water and snacks. For your comfort consider using the restroom before the walk begins (there will be some restrooms along the way).

Transportation and Parking:
Levi’s Plaza and Sue Bierman Park/Embarcadero Plaza are easily accessed by public transportation, including the F Line along the Embarcadero. This line can also take you back to the starting location after the walk.
Paid parking is available along Battery Street near the starting location.
