Native Milkweed Community Planting Day w/ S.O.W. Collective in Reseda!

Santa Monica Mountains Fund, the official partner nonprofit at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, is hosting a free narrowleaf milkweed workshop in Reseda!!

Join us for a fun, informative and hands-on 90 minute class covering:

• Why California native milkweed is so important
• How to grow Narrowleaf Milkweed from seed
• How to help SAMO Fund grow and giveaway over 10,000 milkweed plants in the San Fernando Valley this Summer!
• Updates on local Monarch Butterfly populations and the potential risks of gardening with tropical milkweed
• How to make your area more welcoming to Monarch Butterflies and other local pollinators

Hands-on work will include helping to sow hundreds of milkweed seed, and practice transplanting young milkweed seedlings into larger containers for future giveaways. Each registered participant will be able to take home a few plants and/ or seed to grow at home!

We will be holding this workshop at the S.O.W. Collective Backyard Farm in Reseda.
