The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be improving the trail near the old power plant in Alexandria for National Trails Day. We will be removing invasive kudzu vines that are killing nearby trees and constantly growing over the trail.

Volunteers may perform some of the following work:

  • Using pruners and loppers to remove invasive vines
  • Hauling away vegetation and fallen tree branches

What to Bring:

  • Water
  • Gloves (We'll have some to borrow)
  • Long sleeves and long pants

Where to Meet:

The work area is on the Mount Vernon Trail just north of Old Town. See the picture for walking directions from the nearest address.
