Welcome to the Museum of the Moon at the Cathedral!
Come join us for an unforgettable experience under the moonlight! Explore the beauty and wonder of the moon, suspended indoors in our soaring nave at the stunning neo-gothic Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City.
Museum of the Moon is a touring artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram. Measuring 20 feet in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:600,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 6km of the moon’s surface.
The installation at the Cathedral - "Moon as Sacred Mirror - is a fusion of lunar imagery, moonlight and surround sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award winning composer Dan Jones. Our Cathedral is hosting a number of events besides tours, so please check our website for more opportunities to connect with the moon in our space!
Tours are open during selected evenings of the Museum of the Moon's presentation at the Cathedral, and all are welcome! This is a wonderful experience for all astronomers, artists, seekers and searchers, photographers, moms and dads, and kids and seniors alike!
And, for more information on the other events associated with Moon as Sacred Mirror (including yoga under the moon, our Pink Floyd tribute band show, local brewery festival, and Moondance Gala) please visit our website at www.incarnationgc.org/moon
