About this event

Join us May 19-21, 2025 for the first Mountain State Land Use Summit!

Practitioners and citizens alike will explore how folks are using innovations in land use to build our sense of place in the mountain state, because we know that place is important.

Built on the shoulders of the Mountain State Land Use Academy, the first Mountain State Land Use Summit brings together tested strategies and ground-breaking ideas in land banking, agriculture and conservation, outdoor recreation, citizen involved professional planning and more.

If questions about how to revitalize your downtown or neighborhood keep you up at night, if you’ve been searching for systemic solutions to our dilapidated property problem, or if you’ve ever thought that West Virginia’s communities should be able to thrive without compromising her natural beauty, there is a place for you here.

This place, the land we call home, is our foundation for building strong communities and economies. Join with others who care deeply about how this land is used, why place matters, and how land use can support a vibrant future for our state.
