Founded in the 1950s, the non-profit SHOLEM COMMUNITY has increasingly become a magnet for secular progressive Jews and multicultural families. Sholem's offerings include a secular Jewish Sunday school, an alternative bar/bat mitzvah program, a monthly parent/toddler group, screenings, presentations and social activities for adults, and humanistic observances of Jewish holidays. Sholem meets from 10am-12:30pm most Sunday mornings during the school year, regularly at Short Avenue Elementary School, 12814 Maxella Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90066, but currently mostly online or in person outdoors at other venues due to Covid-19 precautions.
