About this event

The Atlanta Bujinkan Dojo presents an Introductory Session, giving you a chance to try out a practical and useful martial art. The unique martial art of ninjutsu is both rooted in tradition and effective for today’s world. The Intro Session will run from 7pm to 8pm, and will be held at our school in Sandy Springs.

Empower your self-defense journey, with a martial art that's like nothing else. :) Established in the 1970s, the Atlanta Bujinkan Dojo is the first school in the Western Hemisphere for this exceptional & uncommon martial art. Our school has a long-standing legacy & strong reputation for quality training & great camaraderie. :) This is not a ‘sport’ program or a run-of-the-mill martial art. It’s pretty special. :)

If you’re ready to learn a tried-and-true, effective self-defense program, with a bunch of great folks, now's the time! Just register below to attend. We look forward to meeting you!

Training is open to adults 18+ (or mature youth at 16-17, with parent permission) For more info about the art or the school, visit our website for details. We also have a short overview video available, along with recommendations from others.

After registering, you'll receive a confirmation email from the dojo with more info. Please plan to arrive by 6:30pm the night of the Introductory Session, to allow time for you to change clothes, and for us to show you around before the session starts. Frequently asked questions

How do I know if this is the right art for me?

This art is great for all types of people, as it doesn't rely on strength or speed, and remains fully effective & practical. The Intro Session is the best way to try it out & see for yourself! In the meantime, check out what others are saying: https://www.atlantabujinkan.org/training/testimonials

How long does it take to become proficient or to earn promotions?

We focus on individual growth for each student. Everyone learns & grows at their own pace, so you'll have a lot of impact on how quickly you progress. :) Regardless of rank, as a dojo member, you'll learn practical & useful techniques for keeping yourself safe, from the time you start training.

Do you train with weapons? How long before I can start doing that training?

Our art is very versatile & includes: Striking (punching, kicking, etc.), Grappling (like joint locks, holds & escapes), and Weapons, as well as non-physical aspects, like meditation. Weapons training is built into the art, not an add-on, & you'll learn to use various tools & weapons from the start.

Do I have to study another art first, before learning Ninjutsu?

That's a common myth, but not true. If you've studied another art, some aspects of that training may carry over & can be something to build from. If you haven't trained before, there are likely fewer habits to unlearn. :) Both cases can be good, depending on the individual student & their approach.

Is this authentic? I thought ninjas were only in movies & comics...?

Good question. Many fakes are out there. :) Don't worry, this is genuine Ninjutsu. The martial arts we teach & study go back centuries. Our Chief Instructor is a direct student of the Grandmaster & has been training for 40+ years. Our dojo has also been recognized & vetted by the Japanese Consulate.

A martial art school near me offers a ‘Ninja Kids’ class. Is that the same thing you do?

It is not at all the same thing. Some may 'borrow' the name Ninja, since it's cool & attracts students. Our school & art are 100% authentic, and we teach the genuine art of Ninjutsu. “Imitation is the highest form of flattery”, so we appreciate the compliment, but they aren't teaching Ninjutsu. :)
