About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join Master Naturalists Mary Ellen Blankenship, Jack Coleman and Bob Speare for a leisurely walk through the Forest Preserve to see, hear, and learn about some of the birds who call this amazing property their home.

From warblers, sparrows, and woodpeckers to hawks, eagles, herons and more, the varied habitats that make up the Forest Preserve attract an impressive number of birds throughout the year.

This easy two-hour walk is designed for beginning birders, but all levels of bird enthusiasts are welcome.

We’ll meet at Fish Island (use driving entrance to Sea Pines Forest Preserve) and walk a loop on the trails covering a couple of miles through a variety of woodland, field, and pond-edge habitats. Dress for the weather and bring a pair of binoculars if you have them. We’ll have a couple of extra pairs on hand.
