Learn how to safely use the professional-quality woodshop machines at Clear Creek Makerspace and take home a hardwood picture frame that you built in this hands-on workshop! We will work on hardwood selection, measuring frame sizes, cutting rabbets and miters, assembly, finishing, and more. This course covers the essentials for creating a beautiful, durable frame to showcase your favorite artwork or photos.

Materials and supplies will be provided for you, including a selection of hardwood, acrylic panels, backer board, and hangers. Welcome to bring your own artwork or photo up to 11x14" and you will build a custom frame for it!

This 4-hour course will cover topics such as:

  • Selecting and preparing hardwood
  • Measuring and cutting precise rabbets
  • Measuring and cutting miters for the perfect fit
  • Gluing and clamping techniques
  • Edge detail using a router table
  • Cutting a custom fit non-glare acrylic panel
  • Installing backing and hanging hardware
  • Sanding and finishing for a polished look

You will walk away with ready-to-hang custom built hardwood frame that you built!

David is a skilled handyman and fine woodworker with a passion for building, fixing, learning, and teaching. He runs Applewood Handyman as well as Moon Rabbit Woodworker, small businesses where he design-builds custom pieces ranging from hardwood picture frames and flamingo-inspired bent lamination side tables to built-in cabinets and solid wood tabletops.
