Contrary to common belief, cactus gardening is not a simple practice of plant it and forget it. If you are one of those people that claim “to be so bad at gardening that you can kill a cactus,” well…you are not alone. In fact, it is VERY easy to kill a cactus. Another myth in the North Texas area is that “cactus will not grow here.” The good news is that cactus gardening is not just some forced landscaping that is relegated to those people that live in the desert southwest. With the right soil and the right temperatures, cactus gardening can be enjoyed to adorn both the patio and the North Texas garden.
