WHAT IS A SOUND BATH AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS
The practice uses sound vibrations to improve the conditions of your mental, spiritual, and emotional state. It can help to bring out emotions and help you process situations. There are two principles of sound healing. Every emotion has its own vibrational frequency and energy, and disease is caused by stagnant or blocked energy.
A real-life scenario of this might be that you're in a situation that you don't particularly like, or you're just bored all the all the time. By keeping that bottled up, your body builds up stressors and tension, leading to aches, pains, or inflammatory responses. This might be something that you're familiar with, or maybe that you've felt this in the past.
During a sound bath, various instruments are used to put participants into a meditative state. This is also called hypnagogic state. It's during this time that your typical active ego ring quiets down and allows for your subconscious thoughts and emotions to process. And this is where deeper healing and reflection occurs.
During a session, participants experience various sound frequencies to engage and unblock stagnant energy. Certain emotions might be expressed or felt. This doesn't mean that during a sound bath you turn into another person or have uncontrollable outbursts or anything like that, but difficult thoughts, memories, or emotions might come up. Other times your brain might try to distract you from feeling the emotions by reminding you of your to do list or something else that happened in the day. Eventually, like with meditation practice, you can comfortably allow these emotions to be expressed without having to distract yourself with various other thoughts.
**Benefits of sound healing #1 is that it relaxes and soothes your nervous system and increases your sleep quality and melts stress away. Many people after a session will tell me that they had a great sleep, or they just feel very relaxed afterwards. Sound healing just smooths out a lot of the tension that is being held in your body.
Sound healing can also enhance creativity by getting into that meditative state, you're tapping into different types of brain waves, which can help you problem solve in more creative ways.
Sound healing can also unlock energy centers and emotions, so if you're familiar with the chakra system and the major chakras, various tones can be targeted to 1 area and work with those energy bodies. If you're not familiar with chakras, just know that certain emotions and modes of expression live in various parts of your body and by focusing sound vibrations on those areas, you can activate that area.
Last but not least, it alleviates stress. I like to tell people that sound healing is like a massage from your spirit similar to how a massage gets rid of knots and kinks from your body, sound healing does the same with your emotional and spiritual body.
