Join us in instructed dance of the early 19th century, led by Susan de Guardiola, to commemorate the 1824-1825 visit of General Lafayette to America, his adopted country.


Enjoy period-appropriate refreshments, table games, and live music!


Early 19th century clothing is encouraged, but no costume or experience is necessary to attend.

This event will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church at 309 St. Pauls Ave, in scenic Stapleton Heights on Staten Island. There is parking available on-site, as well as on the nearby streets. Additionally, there is access via public transit, with a bus stop for the S78 across the street from the Church.

Will there be a place to store my coat?

Yes! There will be a cloak room.

Is there a dress code?

Period clothing of the early 19th century is encouraged, but not required. Modern dresses and suits, along with comfortable flat shoes, would be ideal for this event as well. Please no jeans, t-shirts, or high heels.

If I want to change into period clothing at the event, will there be a changing area?

Yes! There will be a changing area.

Do I need to know how to dance?

All the dances are done in groups led by a caller, who will provide some basic instructions prior to each dance and lead you by calling out the next steps.

Is this a child-friendly event?

A well-behaved child 13 years old, or older, is welcome to attend with a ticket, but children under the age of 13 are not recommended.

Is there a way to get to the venue by public transit?

Yes! The church that is the venue for this event is across the street from the S78 bus stop. Get on the S78 at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal, and it is approximately a 15 minute ride.
