About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

May 3, 2025 from 10 AM to 1 PM

Join Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park for a cleanup and invasive species removal at Bushwick Inlet Park from 10 AM to 1 PM for the 14th Annual Riverkeeper Sweep. This is a rain or shine event.

Volunteers will meet at Bushwick Inlet Park, 86 Kent Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249, between the soccer field and the East River. There is street parking but it is easier to arrive by bike, public transit or ferry! Leave ample time to find street parking as it can be competitive.

We recommend that all Sweep volunteers bring a hat, sunscreen, a full reusable water bottle, insect repellent, work gloves and hand sanitizer.

This site is suitable for elementary-aged children with adult supervision.

*IMPORTANT! To ensure the safety of volunteers, Sweep Site Leaders, professional staff, and our communities, we ask that volunteers adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Volunteers are required to pre-register for Sweep.
  • Volunteers should not participate if they have ANY signs of illness.

Over the last 13 years, Sweep leaders have completed 1,349 service projects, bringing together thousands of volunteers from NYC to the Adirondacks to clean up 382 tons of debris, and plant or maintain 8,851 native plants. This incredible effort is made possible by the generosity of Riverkeeper’s members, sponsors, and donors. If you would like to support the continued growth of the Riverkeeper Sweep, please consider making a donation. Contributions of any amount are meaningful.
