Join us for an evening of personal Baltimore history with Jack Burkert, author of Twentieth Century Baltimore, and Michael Kuethe, Education Coordinator at the Baltimore Museum of Industry!
We know you've been excited to hear from Jack about this unique book, which emerged out of a series of popular Baltimore history lectures beginning in 2011. Part social history, part memoir, it's a story of a city and its people, a history from the perspective of a fellow Baltimorean, one native son who is also an amateur historian.

Jack Burkert is a Baltimore native who uses his energy and interest in all things Baltimore to create a number of educational programs. A 1969 graduate of the University of Maryland, Jack graduated with honors with a degree in history and education. His working life, some 40+ years, was spent in various educator roles, including the Baltimore City School system, the Pennsylvania State University, and private employers in Washington and New York City, and later in his own consulting firm. Jack also worked for many years as a part time as an educator at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. In recent years he has presented several hundred Baltimore history programs to various adult audiences, and using that material wrote Twentieth Century Baltimore, the story of Baltimore, the people, the events, large and small, entertainment, and unique happenings during the 20th Century.
