This six-hour training will introduce you to the world of Sandtray Play Therapy! It will be interactive, allowing you to engage with the presenter and other participants, making for an enjoyable hands-on experience. Trays, Sand, and figures will be provided for you to create, discuss, and process your trays with other clinicians.


Sandtray therapy is a powerful technique that can be used with children, teens, adults, families, and couples in play therapy sessions. Using a directive or non-directive approach is a fun tool to incorporate into play therapy sessions. We will discuss how to create physical and virtual sandtrays. Learn ways to weave the therapeutic powers of play therapy into a session using sandtray play therapy.

Do you have to a actual sandtray tray and minatures to attend?

You will receive a Sandtray kit to use during the training and that you will also be able to keep and take with you to use with your clients.

Do you have to any prior training in sandtray?

No, this is a beginning training for those new to sandtray.

Sabra Starnes is a Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing for 23 years in the DMV area. She worked for 13 years in the District of Columbia Public School System as a School Social Worker.

She is the founder of Next Place Therapy Services a private practice that has offices in Largo, Maryland, and Washington, DC.

She became a Registered Play Therapist in 2003. And a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor in 2015. She presents both in-person and online play therapy training towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist.

Sabra's training are engaging, humorous, and fun. She has a strong passion for educating and supporting clinicians to become effective and highly skilled play therapists.
