Join Steve Walsh, Mike Smith, and the Hike-a-Thon team Mountain Goats for a hike past numerous waterfalls and cascades on a stunningly beautiful trail along the Middle Prong- a perfect opportunity to log some miles for TennGreen's fifth annual Hike-A-Thon! Learn about the history of the area from Mike Smith, volunteer for the National Park Service. Sightings of Black Bears are possible. Meet at the IGA Parking lot in Townsend and caravan to the trailhead.


Mike Smith is on the Board of Directors for Appalachian Bear Rescue and is an expert on the area including history and bear behavior.


Moderate difficulty: Hike is 5 miles out and back. Some of the trail is rocky and has moderate elevation change but no creek crossings. Consider wearing closed-toed shoes, weather-appropriate attire, bring lunch/snacks, and plenty of water.


Meet at the Townsend IGA parking lot at 7945 E Lamar Alexander Pkwy, Townsend, TN 37882 and caravan to the Middle Prong trailhead.


The event is free and registration is required including cell phone for everyone who registers.
