The chapter provides everything needed for a few hours on the water (kayak, PFD, paddle, fishing pole and bait) or the bank (on shore games, fishing poles and bait). We also provide a meal and your choice of bottled water or soft drink...FOR FREE to every participant and volunteer at each event.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring anything?

Please bring a lawn chair or something to sit on. We do have lawn chairs, but we are limited.

Is it safe to have my phone on the kayak?

It is, but it's best to keep it in something that can keep it dry. We will hold onto them for you on shore.

Is sunscreen and bug spray provided?

Yes, but if you want to bring your own, you are welcome to do so.

Can I bring my family?

Yes, we encourage you to bring your immediate family to events.

Heroes on the Water - NW Arkansas Chapter

We currently have 16 (2 of which are tandem kayaks) in the fleet but can accommodate more with sufficient notice. Kayaking is only a small part of our events, the main goal is to give our participants an avenue for recurring activities, camaraderie and a lifelong social network with like-minded people.  Many participants fish from the bank or just enjoy a lazy day in the outdoors.

We are a local chapter of a national non-profit organization. We provide military members, veterans, first responders and their immediate family members a way to kayak, kayak fishing or fishing from the bank.; We provide everything needed; kayak, PFD, fishing pole, bait, drinks (non-alcohol) and lunch in the NW Arkansas area all for FREE!
