About this event

The small town of Millington takes its name from the fact that mills on the narrowing Chester River played an essential part in its early history. The narrowing of the river provides a beautiful, quiet setting for kayakers to explore, and the wooded banks are home to many different species of flora and fauna. Come discover all that the upper Chester has to offer!

Sultana Education Foundation's Public Paddles provide participants with unique experiences on the Chesapeake Bay and its tidal tributaries. During a typical voyage, paddlers explore scenic, undeveloped portions of one of the Bay’s tidal tributaries while learning about the flora and fauna that make the region so unique. Kayak programs take place on the National Park Service’s Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail and were established with the support of the National Park Service’s Chesapeake Bay Gateways office. Kayaks are provided so all you need to bring is water, a snack, and your binoculars!

Social distancing guidelines will be followed, each paddle will be kept to 10 participants. Most paddles are 2.5 hours long at $35 per person.  Kayaks and gear are provided but if you have a personal floatation device--please bring it!  You will also need water, a snack, and even your binoculars!
