About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Goldenseal is a high-value specialty crop with a long and illustrious history in Ohio. It’s a native herbaceous species that occurs naturally in forest understories in the midwest and Appalachian mountain regions, with Ohio in the center of its range. The plant is harvested for its golden-colored medicinal root, and is at risk or threatened throughout most of its native range.

The good news is that goldenseal is one of the easiest forest herbs to cultivate and manage sustainably! This workshop will help participants gain a fundamental understanding of how to cultivate and manage goldenseal, using basic forest farming practices, and will also include a propagation and planting demonstration.

This event is co-hosted by United Plant Savers and Rural Action.
