About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

This event is co-hosted by Crown Royal, who generously funded our purchase of garden tools and leaf mulch for these monthly workshops. No whisky at the workshop, but they will be bringing lemonade!

In May, we'll be planting a large native garden bed. We'll go over some garden design basics and how to choose the right native plants for your soil and light conditions. Then, we'll show you some labor-saving tools for planting and how to monitor your garden's watering needs.

Bring your gardening questions, as this is a great space to ask questions in an informal environment.

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking?

Yes, there is ample parking across from the nursery. Just follow the signs!

Is there a restroom?

Unfortunately, there is no restroom at Meadow City. Six Shooter Coffee down the street has a restroom for paying customers.

What should I wear?

Come prepared to work outdoors! Please check the forecast and dress for the weather. Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Wear closed-toed shoes. On cool days, we recommend wearing layers that can be removed as you warm up. You may also want to wear a sunhat or apply sunscreen.

Should I bring anything?

Please pack a good amount of water. We will provide gardening gloves and tools, but if you have your own equipment, feel free to bring it.

What if the weather is bad?

If it rains, we will postpone or cancel the workday - please monitor your email for updates, or feel free to call Meadow City at 216-282-6911 to check in. We usually work no matter the temperature.

Organized by

At Meadow City, we grow native plants for people, birds, and pollinators. At our retail location in Cleveland’s Waterloo Arts District, we host events and workshops that help people create, maintain, and enjoy native habitat in gardens of any size.
