Based out of New York City, The Day Boys are a neo-traditional folk/rock band that combines down-home nostalgia, energetic rhythm, vulnerable lyricism and Irish influence together into one unique sound. A band made up of four vocalists, The Day Boys weave intricate harmonies with earworm riffs to create thoughtful and complex music that’s difficult to compare to anyone else on the scene right now. The band features Mae Roney (fiddle/vocals), Henry Raber (guitar/vocals), Ben Korman (bass/vocals) and Thomas Kuklenski (drums/vocals). Their debut EP, If You Insist, was released on June 7th, 2024. It wrestles with themes of finding your place somewhere between childhood and becoming an adult with the undertone of not taking life too seriously. From the flying chorus of single Wichita Night, to the wistfulness of Howlin’ at Moons, to the stripped bare finale of The Shoreline, this EP takes the listener back to a time when things might’ve been a little simpler, but encourages them to persist in the face of adulthood with a smile. In the Summer of 2024, the band closed out an evening at the famous New Jersey venue The Stone Pony as a part of their Summer Fest. In NYC, The Day Boys can be found playing weekly bar gigs all along the East Side of Manhattan, or playing original sets at spaces like Rockwood Music Hall, The Bowery Electric, Mathilde, The Delancey, Heaven Can Wait, Gold Sounds, and more.
